    Our panelists:


    Dr. Charles Gerba Chuck Gerba is a professor in the Department Environmental Science for the University of Arizona. He conducts research on the transmission of pathogens by water, food and in health care environments. He has been an author on more than 500 per reviewed articles and several textbooks in environmental microbiology and risk assessment. Among his current research projects include assessment of novel technologies disinfection for the control of coronavirus; use of wastewater monitoring to identify and predict the number of cases of coronavirus in a hospital or community, and quantitative microbial risk assessment.


    Dr. Jon Williams Dr. Jon Williams is a research scientist from Nashville, TN. He received his PhD in Microbiology & Immunology from Vanderbilt University in 2015. Jon is also the managing partner for The Clean Living Company, Inc., a local cleaning and disinfecting business in Nashville, TN, where he combines his passion for science and service. Jon's research on disinfectants and antimicrobial products led them to SurfaceWise by Allied BioScience.


    Darrel Hicks J. Darrel Hicks, BA, Master REH, CHESP, retired in 2014 as the former Director of Environmental services at a 500-bed, award-winning hospital in the United States and currently serves as an infection prevention consultant, working with many national firms across the US. Hicks is the current President of the Healthcare Surfaces Institute and was President of the international executive housekeepers association and holds the title of MASTER Registered Executive Housekeeper (MREH). He is an active member of both the AHE (Association for the Healthcare Environment) where he holds the designation of CHESP (Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional) and CMIP (Certificate of Mastery in Infection Prevention), and APIC (the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology) professional groups.


    Thomas Holland, CEO, Corporate Floors Family of Brands Thomas is CEO and Chief Solutionist of the Corporate Floors family of brands which includes Corporate Floors, APEX Surface Care, APEX Property Services and Texas Carpet Recycling. Passionate for innovation and using business as a force for good, he’s led the company to receive one of the first B-Corp certifications in the industry. Thomas is the current board advisory for Women in Facilities Management (WIFM), Past President of the D/FW Chapter of the International Facility Managers Association (IFMA), and past board member of the Carpet America Recovery Effort (CARE). He has been a panel speaker at countless CEU courses regarding the flooring and surface care industry and is a passionate advocate for education, he has helped moderate sessions for IIDA, BOMA, USGBC and IFMA.


    Erik Lind, Vice President National Accounts Erik began working in the flooring industry in 2003 with DuPont Flooring Systems where he managed the local operations. He joined APEX 14 years ago and has served in a variety of leadership roles, leveraging his intimate knowledge of operations and strategic account management. As Vice President of National Accounts, he leads our team in developing solutions for our strategic clients, marrying the various brands we represent into total solutions for corporate end users.


    Mark Cannon, COO, Corporate Floors/APEX Surface Care Mark transitioned to Corporate Floors and APEX Surface Care after twenty years in the commercial janitorial industry where he managed over 1,000 employees as Vice President of a regional janitorial provider. As COO, Mark leads the  standards, training, safety and operations for all brands.  Mark worked on the IICRC TAC Team for their RFMT course and has been an ISSA member for over 25 years. Mark recently led APEX through our ISSA CIMS certification process and is currently leading APEX through the GBAC STAR certification program. He is also deeply involved in his community Carter Blood Care, the AMA YMCA Advisory Board and Board of Directors, and his local church in the Children’s Ministry. Mark was drafted into the NFL in 1984 and worked from 1984 through 1991 for Green Bay (’84-’89), Kansas City (’89-’90), and the then Indianapolis Colts(’91).
